1914 - 1918
No more export-partners

Octobers 1914: The "Free Guild" achieves and id granted the monploy rights to hold
examinations for apprentices and trainees - election of the first respective examing

November 1914: The first apprentices are released.

January 1915: An obligational and common apprenticeship is agreed upon in time and
1919 - 1922
All markets open again.

Rising exports lead to further foundations of workshops and firms.

The guild has extended to 32 member-firms.
1923 - 1925
Germany has got a new currency running well - but this leads to a sales crisis.
1926 - 1928
Years of economic boom.
The number of the guild-firms and their surgical-mechanical apprentices is growing
1929 - 1932
Global economic crisis - some firms of our industrial sector are reducing their
manpower, some are producing other articles and tools.
1933 - 1938

The German guild system is being completely restructured,  reorganized and leveled.
1934: The guild becomes a member of the National Association of Medical Technique.
1935: These associations combined employers on an compulsory basis! So – in our
trade this happened too – for example.
There existed an obligational membership of apprentices in the Hitler-Youth.
1937: The export of medical tools and instruments is being restricted and defined
on a new legal basis.
Prices are fixed by the Ministry of Economics in Berlin.

1939 - 1944
Collapse of industrial sectors and of good foreign relations.
Many specialists of the sector are drafted. Logistics become more and more
difficult in our sector too, with all kinds of materials.
In the 1939 the profession of surgical – mechanics become an official and
acknowledged qualified job. Each apprentice has to keep a workshop
weekly diary.

1945 - 1948

Burdening, painful years after the war. French occupational troops and
military goverment.
Diverse firms and workshops are partly dismantled.
The French occupational government concentrates all industrial and
workshop firms producing and dealing with surgical instruments.
The new organization is called VHC (Association of Producers of
Surgical Instruments).    

1949 - 1955
New beginning of export overseas.

1956 - 1970
Lack of specialists – decline of apprentices.
1964: 50-year-anniversary of our guild.
1969: Our One-year Vocational College For Metallurgical Technology can
be integrated into other vocational colleges on demand.

1971 - 1976
1974: Handicraft Centre is being finished and the staff move in.
1976: Our guild becomes a member of the “Handwerkstag Baden
Würtemberg” (Handicraft Association Baden Würtemberg)
1977 - 1983
1978: opening ceremony of the Vocational College Tuttlingen (“Berufliche
Bildungsstätte Tuttlingen – BBT”)
1979: the guild lakes a decision in favour of the indreduction of a central
educational system (“Einführung der Überbetrieblichen Ausbildung = Uba)
1980: within the region of the Handicraft Chamber Konstanz, all surgical –
mechanical member firms are obliged to pay a special fee in order to
finance this central educational training.
From 1984 - 1989

the vocational profile and the actual educational practice are being
reformed by the Federal Institute For Vocational Training
(Bundesministerium  für Berufsbildung =BIE) in Berlin.

From 1989 on the guild has been offering new educational standards.
At the moment our guild consists of 240 member-firms.
